“I graduated with a degree in Biology from Quy Nhon University (Vietnam) in 2020. With a passion for biology, I continued to pursue a master’s degree in applied biology. I was involved in a research project, “Effect of exogenous melatonin treatment on the postharvest quality of avocado fruit,” and graduated in 2022. As a person who was born into a farmer family in the middle of Vietnam and whose relatives are also growing avocado and durian trees, I can see the hardships people here have to go through in growing avocado and durian. So, I was impressed by the IUC program. This program aims to sustainably boost the livelihoods of farmers and the living conditions of residents in the South-Central Coast and Central Highlands of Vietnam through pre-harvest management of avocado and durian trees. In 2023, I will become a PhD in bioscience engineering at Ghent University of the IUC program at Quy Nhon University, sponsored by VLIR-UOS (Belgium). My PhD project will be on the cultivation and fertility of avocado and durian fruit.”
