In 2013, I decided to enroll in the Plant Biotechnology program at Mendel University in Brno to deepen my understanding of modern agricultural practices. As I progressed through my coursework, I found myself particularly drawn to the field of photobiology. I was particularly intrigued by the internal biological rhythms that regulate plant processes over the course of a day or season, known as circadian and diurnal rhythms. As my interest in this topic grew, I enrolled in the Life Sciences PhD program at CEITEC Mendelu. The primary focus of my doctoral research was to investigate the role of the light as an environmental signal for plants. In the first part, I focused on the disruption of the diurnal rhythmicity on the proteome level within the project that focused on the tripartite interplay involving light, cytokinin, and hydrogen peroxide. With this project, I was awarded a “Brno Ph.D. talent grant” in 2019. In addition to this study, I have been focusing my attention on investigating the importance of light intensity in the cold acclimation process. I mainly focused on the transcriptomic response of leaves in different developmental stages that underwent cold acclimation under various light conditions, as well as their ability to respond to freezing stress.

In 2024, I joined the Horticell team to further explore the role of light in the adventitious rooting process.
